28th September, 2002 // Spain
Barcelona

I dont know what it is, but the thoughts of hitting one more city is not appealing. WE made it to Barcelona after spending 5 hours in a smoking section of our train. One thing about Europe, mostly Spain, is the pollution. It is so bad here, my chest hurts! After smoking 2 packs on the train, we step out into Barcelona station, which is worse than the train. But, I cannot complain. All I can say is that I cannot wait to head somewhere more remote.
We found our hotel, and after some confusion about our reservation...what confusion i do not know as the reception could only speak spanish, we settled into our overpriced room and headed out to see the sites. Barcelona is similar to Madrid, not really any main sites, just the city. We toured around the famous street, Las Ramblas, where there are vendors selling birds, flowers, and everything else...there are fortune tellers, statue people, singers, freakshows, everything. It is like a carnival. We visited the waterfront. Today we hit all the Cathedrals, (Sagrada Familia was neat), the shopping areas, places like that. I wouldnt spend money to come back here, but it was a site to see.
