25th September, 2002 // Spain
Alacante

We have finally reached the warm weather! Alacante is a town of about 250000 along the Meditranian Sea. Palm trees everywhere! The weather is still not tropical, it is cloudy today, but you dont have to wear a sweater. We spent the day lost until we found a tourist place and a map. We walked along the beach, did some shopping...i broke the bank today...and plan on heading back to the beach tonight. We are staying here another day to...you guessed it...hit the beach. Our hotel is a really nice place to stay, but noone speaks English, which makes it hard. That doesnt matter....I went shopping and am still on my high! Back to the beach, the water is warm, the beaches are sandy, it is like paradise. I cannot wait to see more!

Our second day in Alacante was perfect. We woke up late, went to the market...the markets in Spain are amazing by the way. They sell absolutely everything. If only I had someone to carry all my purchases. We made it to the beach by noon, the sun came out (a warm 29 degrees), we baked in the sun, swam in the warm, but refreshing Meditranian sea..it was great. At night, we toured the market, the beach, the marina.
