Dear Kortney and Andy,
How are you doing? I can't wait until you come back I miss you so much. Sorry,I haven't done a very good job of keeping in contact with you guys, but is has been a very, very busy year! The family is doing good. Recently, we got a new car(Honda Odyssey)and we have a trampoline. My dad, he just got a new job as a janitor for our church. Lately, he's been working hard on cleaning up my grandma's old house because she moved.We just found out that the house got sold to someone, who is paying more money then it costs. So, he has been doing just fine. My mom, Has been busy as can be driving all of us kids around to friends houses and lots of camps during this time, because it's summer, we're out of school! As for Jordan, he's busy playing video games,playing basketball, and lots of other activities.Just a couple weeks ago Jordan broke his arm at Youth Group doing a flip.6 weeks later Jordan got his cast off and in less then 24 hours sprained it AGAIN. Jordan is going into the 7th grade. Morgan, is doing just fine she's been busy with sports and other activities. She's having lots of fun. Morgan will be going into the 6th grade. For me(Taylor) life has been great I've been hanging out with lots of friends and have been swimming a lot, since summer started. This last year, I've played volleyball(for school), basketball(for school), soccer, and I took part on the dance team.I'm also going into the sixth grade. The YMCA that you used to take us to got changed into the North East Community Center(NECC). Lately, we have been there a lot swimming and playing basketball. So, I guess you could say life is pretty good for us.Oh yeah, What is the date you're coming home? Well, once again, Sorry for not keeping in contact. Well, I hope to talk to you later. We won the Peace Corps phone call again this year. So they will bring or send you the satellite phone and on March 3 at 8:20 PST we will be waiting for your call. We have a speaker phone this year and will record the conversation to play to all the classes. Only a select few are invited to skip first period and talk to you. Is there anything you want them to research for you before then? We are celebrating Peace Corps Week--Feb 28th-March 6! Good idea, JFK.

Hi Andy. I went to your parents' church when I lived in Southern California. I am now in Tennessee, where I am getting a master's degree in intercultural studies with a concentration in Spanish at Union University in Jackson. My classes offer a mix of instruction in Spanish, ESL and international relations. I'm eager to hear more about your efforts to teach English in Suriname. What are some of the linguistic difficulties people there face in learning English? How do they think knowing English will benefit them in their lives? What are their abilities in their own language? Do they speak Spanish or indigenous languages? Are most of the people you work with eager to learn English or do some resent that it is being taught? I would appreciate any insight you can offer!
